Katanning Hamfeast Report

Many thanks to everyone who came along to the Katanning Ham Feast yesterday – It was great to see everyone and catch up for a chat and some lunch.

I think I counted around 35 guests for lunch at the Royal Exchange Hotel for the 7th Katanning Ham Feast.

First prize in the raffle (LED magnifying desk lamp) was won by VK6TY Lee.  Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and proceeds from the raffle go to helping Southern Electronics Group.

The Treasurer Bevan VK6BL also advises that many members also renewed their membership and we also signed up some new members yesterday.  Thank you to those who renewed their membership and welcome to the new SEG members.

Thanks to Chris VK6JI who has uploaded his photos from the day to his website.  Checkout http://www.cwjames.info/kathamfeast/

The next Ham Feast is planned for Manjimup in mid-2016 (exact date is to be advised) and hoping you can all make it along.

Thanks again all for making it a great day.

2016 Katanning Hamfeast

The next annual Katanning Hamfeast is to be held on Tuesday 19 January 2016.

Start time is 12.00pm for lunch at Oscar’s Cafe at the Royal Exchange Hotel in Katanning. (Austral Terrace opposite the railway station)

As always, the meals & desserts are very good. Food and drinks are also very reasonably priced.

This will be the 7th anniversary of the event.

Car pooling is encouraged and I would imagine we will have travellers from Albany, Manjimup and Perth areas heading to Katanning.

Please post here if you require a lift or can offer transport.

Please RSVP via the Contact Page by Monday 11 January 2016 so I can making a booking with the cafe and prepare name badges for the day.  YL’s, YM’s, XYL’s, XYM’s, wives, husbands and partners are also very welcome to attend.

Please pass the word around and I look forward to seeing you there!

73’s

2016 SEG Membership Renewals

We encourage everyone to join the Southern Electronics Group. Being a member is a great way to get started in the hobby, meet new friends and help out others. Licensed amateur, shortwave listeners and radio hobbyists alike are all welcome to join us.

Membership is only $30.00 per year and the membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December each year.

The group has invested considerably in the network of repeaters which we own and operate. These repeaters are expensive to licence, maintain and operate, not only in money but also time.  There is also the club callsign VK6SR, APRS digipeater and I-Gate.

In 2016 SEG is planning the rollout All Star linking between the repeaters at Manjimup and Mount Barker with the existing All Star system at Katanning.  There are also discussions under way with the Bunbury Radio Club to join in with our All Star linking as both clubs share many common interests (and members!).

SEG are also making progress towards putting in a new 70cm repeater at Albany in 2016 which will cover town and surrounds with linking to Mount Barker and the All Star network.

Importantly, being a member of SEG helps us to share the cost of funding these new projects as well as repair things when they break (like power supplies and antennas).  For members who joined part way through 2015, we can pro-rata your 2016 membership.  Donations are also very welcome.

In 2016 SEG will be able to accept membership renewals and new applications securely online via credit card & Paypal for the first time through the RegisterNow group.. (Below)

For those who wish to pay by EFT/internet banking or by cheque, Membership Forms can be downloaded in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF formats below and sent via e-mail, by Australia Post to the Treasurer at the PO Box or in person at the next SEG Ham Feast.  Please contact SEG for the online links to online pro-rata membership renewal and donations.  (See Contact Page for details)

Your ongoing support of SEG is greatly appreciated and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
